Job Description:

• Trading Solutions is a sub-business unit under Analytics and Trading Solutions SBU and focuses on workflows that are specific and unique to the front office trading.
• Serving portfolio managers and traders, Trading Solutions provide a unique combination of content, analytics, and order and execution management systems to transform the way investment firms analyze, communicate, and execute investment ideas.
• The Data Architecture team is looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of a software engineer within the team.
• The team is responsible for managing and designing Databases used for the trading platform.
• Databases currently being used are primarily Oracle along with Apache Cassandra and AWS Aurora and SQL Server.
• An understanding of complementary technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, AWS and Docker would be advantageous.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with other members of the Data Architecture team as well as the Core and Trade History development teams to support and develop Database solutions.
• Improve automation of existing and new Database tasks.
• Write efficient queries, including over very large data sets.
• Understand and adapt to new technologies, tools, methods and processes from industry.
• Provide production support with occasional out of hours availability.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• The role will require strong scripting skills, both for building queries for business purposes and also for automation of administrative tasks.
• Ability and enthusiasm for learning new technology quickly and adapting to it.
• Put together quick POC cases for testing methodologies and solutions.
• Attention to detail and ability to take tasks to completion and make them production ready including monitoring and documentation.
• Initiative is a key requirement with the ability to offer new solutions for problems and work without constant guidance.
• Experience with Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL ( at least one RDBMS).
• Write complex SQL queries.
• Performance enhancements of queries through use of indexes and/or SQL.
• Python for data analysis and automation.
• Data loading with Python and Database specific tools.
• Linux and shell scripting.
• Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team.
• Strong communication skills.
